This report and audited accounts cover the period August 2021 to July 2022.
Whilst Harness Racing New Zealand has changed the racing calendar to be on a calendar year, and has changed horse’s birthdays to the 1 January, the financial year for NZSBA (and also for HRNZ) continues to be August to July.
Following the move of Brad Reid to HRNZ to take up a Breeding Manager role, the National Executive appointed John Mooney to the position of Executive Manager.
The Executive Manager’s role has been restructured from being a full-time employee of the Breeders to being a part time contract position. It is a credit to John that the various activities of the Breeders and services to members continued to be delivered – on time and within budget. On behalf of the National Executive, I thank John for what he achieved in the year.
In the 2022 year the National body resumed paying the three affiliates – North Island, Canterbury and Southland their share of member’s subscriptions to support regional activities.
With a close attention to costs and with continued support from members and industry supporters we achieved a surplus of $14,299 in the year. This compares with a small deficit of $201 in the previous year. At balance date – 31 July 2022 NZSBA was in a sound financial position with accumulated funds of $51,316.
